Sensei Steve Promoted to 8th Degree Black Belt

Saturday November 18th Momence’s Steve Gross was awarded his 8th degree black belt after forty years of continued dedication to the martial arts.
Gross was recognized at the Illinois Boxing and Martial Arts Hall of Fame Banquet. After several years of teaching in the west suburbs of Chicago, Gross returned to his hometown and has had Sensei Steve’s Karate Center in downtown Momence for over 20 years.
Gross serves in several martial arts organizations and leagues and is often referred to as the “Ambassador of the Martial Arts” by many of his colleagues.
