Fire Lights Up Night on Friday East of Momence

Fire lit up the night sky on Route 114, east of Momence, at Pleasant Corners intersection, when a structure in that area caught fire and blazed into the night and continued igniting the next morning.  Besides Momence Fire Department, Beecher, Lake Village, Grant Park, Kankakee Township, Bourbonnais, Pembroke, and Aroma Park Departments all provided support. It took 3+ hours to get the fire under control and still in  the morning around 9 a.m. the fire was still smoking.  Over 130,000 gallons of water was used to combat the blaze. Unfortunately most of that water made its way down in the ‘basement’ of the building, which is why the fire department was there for a lengthy amount of  time and then returning Saturday morning as the fire was trying to re-ignite and kept smoking.
