Great Day to Celebrate Momence During Heritage Day!

Momence Heritage Day held on June 18th!    Enjoy live music, great food, an outdoor vendor market, magic, historical exhibits and demonstrations. Featuring music by the Kings of Dixieland, food from Big Boom BBQ, Sweet Corn Kings, Bennett-Curtis House, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Rebel Ice Cream, and over 20 market vendors!

 The day began with the FFA Biscuit & Gravy breakfast at 7am on Island Park followed by a fishing derby and Free Fishing Illinois.  Steve Gross will kick off the downtown Heritage Day events with the opening ceremony at the Graham Historic House at Noon featuring Momence’s own Mary Cantwell singing the National Anthem.

 The Earl Schoeffner Farm Museum will open a new exhibit on Heritage Day, “First Farmers of Momence,” The Potawatomi. The exhibition will feature authentic artifacts including arrowheads, axes, ceremonial spearheads, pottery and many other original finds from the Momence area and will be open from 10am to 4pm.  The museum will also conduct interactive “Drum Circles” every hour on the quarter hour between 1pm and 3pm.
